The Azerbaijani national freestyle wrestling team has focused on strength and functional training at the Goygol training camp. Sport24.az reports that this was stated by the head coach of the mentioned national team, Khetag Gazyumov, in his statement to the press service of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation.
He evaluated the team's training camp in Goygol:
"In the preparation process, which will end on January 31, more emphasis is placed on physical training. We are preparing in a planned manner for the ranking tournament to be held in Albania, which is our first start in terms of competition. We are holding a training camp in Goygol. We have focused on strength and functional training. At the same time, we also add technical and tactical training here. Our goal in this training camp is to increase strength indicators and functional training, as well as endurance. Of course, to fulfill our tactical tasks, to observe and study our opponents, so that we know who and how we will fight in the future."
He spoke about the current situation of the team:
"It is too early to talk about the current state of the team. Because the Azerbaijani championship was held recently. Our federation organized tests, we passed those tests and checked the athletes' bodies. We are involving wrestlers in the preparation process so that they can work at a high level in the future.
Two training camps are planned for the ranking tournament to be held in Albania. As I said before, the first training camp is more of a strength and functional training character. We will also hold a training camp in Baku on tactical and technical exercises."
