Khetag Gazyumov, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national freestyle wrestling team, stated that the team could have achieved greater success at the world championship held in Zagreb.
İdman.biz reports this.
"The wrestlers performed well, but I believe they could have won more medals. We haven't won gold yet, but I hope that as the Olympics approach, our athletes will prepare even better and be able to compete for the highest award," the coach told reporters.
Gazyumov also praised Nureddin Novruzov's success: "It is great that he showed himself and achieved this result. This will be an example for our youth and will encourage them to become medalists and world champions."
At the world championship, the Azerbaijani team won one silver and three bronze medals. Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) won silver, and Nureddin Novruzov (61 kg), Arseni Djioyev (86 kg), and Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg) won bronze medals.
