Azerbaijani wrestlers could have won more medals at the World Championship.
This was stated to "Report" by the head coach of the Azerbaijani freestyle wrestling team, Khetag Gazyumov.
He spoke about the performance of the national team at the World Championship held in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia:
"The wrestlers did not perform badly. I think we could have won more medals. We haven't reached the gold medal yet. I hope that as the Olympics approach, our athletes who will fight for the gold medal will prepare better for the competitions.
X.Gazyumov emphasized that it is gratifying that Nureddin Novruzov won an award:
"It's very good that Nureddin Novruzov showed himself well and achieved results. This will cause positive envy for our youth, and they will also want to be prize-winners and champions of the world championship."
It should be noted that the team won 1 silver and 3 bronze medals at the continental championship. Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) won silver, and Nureddin Novruzov (61 kg), Arseniy Dzhioyev (86 kg) and Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg) won bronze medals.
