The roster of the Azerbaijan national freestyle wrestling team will be expanded. It is reported that Amir Reza Masoumi will compete for the Azerbaijan national freestyle wrestling team after the relevant permit document is obtained from the Iranian Wrestling Federation.
According to Idman.Biz, citing informed sources, Amir Reza Masoumi, along with his father and personal coach Fardin Masoumi, has already participated in several training camps in Azerbaijan with local wrestlers.
Negotiations regarding his recruitment to the national team were mediated by one of our team's coaches and concluded with a positive result.
It should be noted that 20-year-old Masoumi is an ethnic Talysh. He became the Asian champion in 2025 and has repeatedly won the title of world champion in the U17, U20, and U23 age groups. The wrestler, who currently competes in the 125 kg weight category, aims to participate in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He has repeatedly stated this goal openly.
