Four-time world champion Ibrahim Yusubov (90 kg) has ended his beach wrestling career.
Idman.Biz reports that the athlete announced this to journalists at a welcome ceremony in Baku.
He stated that the final stage of the World Series held in Alexandria, Egypt, was the last competition in his career: "This was the tournament where I became world champion for the fourth time. The competition was organized at a high level, and we were fully prepared for it. Our goal was to raise our flag and play our anthem, and we achieved it. I thank the leadership of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation and our coaches."
Regarding the end of his career, Ibrahim Yusubov said: "We made this decision together with the head coach. It is a better choice to leave sports with a victory. I may work as a coach in the future, and if the Federation leadership trusts me, I will work in this field."
It should be noted that Azerbaijani representatives won 2 gold and 1 bronze medals in the competition. Ibrahim Yusubov (90 kg) and Vusal Aliyev (80 kg) won gold, and Sahib Dadashov (80 kg) won bronze.
