The road to the final was not easy for Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg), the winner of the U-23 European Championship held in Zrenjanin, Serbia.
"Report" reports that the wrestler said this in a statement to journalists after the final match.
G. Gurbanova evaluated winning the title of European champion for the second time:
"I am very happy to be the European champion for the second time. I hope that I will have the chance to win a medal again in the future. It was not easy to get here. I express my gratitude to my coach Togrul Asgarov, our team and everyone who supported me. They prepared, supported, motivated and shared their experiences with me. They were with me every minute and encouraged me."
She said that the final match was a bit tense: "Although my final match was a bit difficult, there is no difficult opponent for me. My toughest opponent is myself."
The wrestler also talked about her next goal: "My next goal is the European Championship among adults. I want to test myself in this competition as well. I believe that I can win a gold medal."
