Farid Sadikhli (55 kg), the Greco-Roman wrestler of Azerbaijan, who won a silver medal at the U-23 European Championship held in Zrenjanin, Serbia, will try not to repeat his mistakes at the upcoming World Championship.
According to the "Report" employee sent to the competition, the wrestler said this after the final match.
He said that he could not win a gold medal because he made certain mistakes:
"I lost the gold medal because there were some reasons and shortcomings. Our score was equal - 3:3. But I made certain mistakes. I hope that I will win in the next match with this opponent. The World Championship is coming up. I will try not to repeat my mistakes."
The athlete also shared his impressions of his journey in the European Championship:
"I prepared well for the competition. My first opponent was from the Czech Republic. I won a clean victory over him. In the meeting with the Romanian athlete, although I was behind in the score, I later defeated him with a "touch". In the semi-final, I eliminated the Georgian athlete and advanced to the final."
F.Sadikhli spoke about his next goals:
"My next goal is the U-23 World Championship. I believe that I will win a gold medal. Here, I fought head-to-head with only the Russian athlete among my European opponents. I don't know who will come from Asia. But I will try to defeat all my opponents."
It should be noted that Farid lost to Russian Alibek Amirov in the final of the European Championship.
