Azerbaijan's Greco-Roman wrestlers competed in their next matches at the U-23 European Championship held in Zrenjanin, Serbia. On the final day of the competition, our athletes won two bronze medals.
Idman.Biz reports that Farid Khalilov, competing in the 67 kg weight category, faced Hungarian representative Petro Jitovoz in the bronze medal match. Our wrestler, who won against his opponent with a score of 6:3, became the bronze medalist of the European Championship.
Faraim Mustafayev, competing in the 72 kg weight category, faced Ukrainian athlete Dmitro Vasilyev in the consolation match. Faraim, who defeated his opponent with a score of 4:2, qualified for the decisive match for the bronze medal. In this stage, he won against Romanian Leonard Yurasku with a score of 5:4 and won a bronze medal at the U23 European Championship.
Aykhan Javadov, competing in the 60 kg weight category, lost to another Ukrainian representative, Yevgeni Pokovba, with a score of 1:3 in the bronze medal match and finished the competition in fifth place.
This was Azerbaijan's sixth bronze medal at the European Championship. Previously, freestyle wrestlers Musa Agayev (65 kg), Ramik Heybatov (70 kg), Zafar Aliyev (97 kg) and Farid Sadikhli (55 kg) also won bronze medals.

The U-23 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship held in Zrenjanin, Serbia is coming to an end. On the last day of the competition, four more members of the Azerbaijani national team will compete on the mat for prizes.
Idman.Biz reports that Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) will participate in the decisive match for the championship today. He will face Georgian opponent Tornike Mikeladze in the final.
Two more of our representatives - Aykhan Javadov (60 kg) and Farid Khalilov (67 kg) will fight for bronze medals. Farrahim Mustafayev (72 kg) will test his strength in the consolation match.
It should be reminded that Azerbaijani wrestlers have already managed to win 13 medals at this championship. Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg) and Ali Tsokayev (92 kg) won gold medals and became European champions in our team. Farid Sadikhli (55 kg), Gultakin Shirinova (55 kg), Vasif Bagirov (57 kg), Jeyhun Allahverdiyev (61 kg), Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg), Sabuhi Amiraslanov (79 kg) and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) finished the competition with silver medals. Ilkin Gurbanov (63 kg), Musa Agayev (65 kg), Ramik Heybatov (70 kg) and Zafar Aliyev (97 kg) were satisfied with bronze medals.
