Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler Farahim Mustafayev (72 kg), who won a bronze medal at the U-23 European Championship held in Zrenjanin, Serbia, lost to his Russian opponent with a large score in the 1/4 finals due to an unexpected mistake.
The athlete said this in an interview with the "Report" correspondent who was sent to the competition.
He said that he was holding his first international competition in the 72 kg weight category:
"The European Championship was really held at a high level. It was my first international competition in the 72 kg weight category. Nevertheless, I won a medal. I could have defeated the Russian wrestler in the 1/4 finals. But due to an unexpected mistake, I lost by a large score difference."
F.Mustafayev aims to become a world champion:
"My next goal is the world championship. I still have time before this competition. I will correct my mistakes and aim to win a gold medal."
It should be noted that F.Mustafayev defeated Romanian Leonard Petru Iurasku 5:4 in the bronze medal match.
