If our Greco-Roman wrestlers sensationally failed to win a gold medal, our freestyle wrestlers won a gold medal. This success was brought to Azerbaijan by Arseniy Djioyev, who competed in the 86 kg weight category.

"I think that the performance of our freestyle wrestlers at the Islamic Games cannot be considered successful. We are among the leaders in world wrestling, and such a result, especially in the Olympic weight categories, is not encouraging. Unfortunately, after my student Haji Aliyev, there was no clear leader in the team, and as a result, we were not even able to win at the Islamic Games. The team has potential, and serious preparations must be made to preserve it so that we do not lose this potential before the Los Angeles Olympics," said Elman Azimzade.
