"My expectations from this championship are very high."
Idman.biz reports that this was stated by Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler Eldaniz Azizli (55 kg) in his statement to Offsideplus.az.
The 33-year-old athlete revealed his expectations from the World Wrestling Championship among adults in Zagreb, Croatia:
"I am going to this competition for my fifth world championship. You know that I am the only four-time world champion in Olympic sports in our country. I will try to update this historical record. That is my biggest goal right now."
Azizli emphasized that his teammates are also preparing very seriously for the competition:
"We had a good training camp. In fact, our Greco-Roman wrestling team is currently at such a high level that I would not be surprised if any of our athletes win a medal. Because expectations are extremely high. I would say that it is the best team in the history of the country. It has never happened before that everyone wrestling in the team has a medal from the European and world championships. This result shows how high the team is. We are the last European and world champions. I hope that we will not face any surprises in this world championship either. At least, we will be in the top three."
It should be noted that the world championship will start on September 13 and will last until September 21.
