The European Wrestling Championship will be held in Tirana, Albania, from April 20 to 26.
Today, a meeting was held at the training base of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AGF) with our national teams that will participate in the responsible competition. At the event attended by the AGF leadership, all participants of the competition were wished success. AGF Secretary General Parvin Piriyev, Vice Presidents Namig Abdullayev and Farid Mansurov, as well as freestyle wrestling coordinator Haji Aliyev spoke and expressed their belief in each member of the national team, and the importance of fighting to the last breath, regardless of the outcome of the meeting.
Later, the team that will participate in the continental championship was announced. Our national team in Greco-Roman wrestling will compete in the first days of the competition. Under the leadership of head coach Muhammad Bana, senior coach Nureddin Rajabov, coaches Rovshan Bayramov, Bahruz Hazratiipur, Rasul Cezini and Sabah Shariati, Rashad Mammadov (55 kg), Nihat Mammadli (60 kg), Ziya Babashov (63 kg), Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg), Ruslan Nurullayev (72 kg), Sanan Suleymanov (77 kg), Gurban Gurbanov (82 kg), Islam Abbasov (87 kg), Murad Ahmadiev (97 kg) and Beka Kandelaki (130 kg) will perform.
Then women's wrestling will begin. Under the leadership of acting head coach Togrul Asgarov and senior coach Agahuseyn Mustafayev, Elnura Mammadova (50 kg), Jala Aliyeva (57 kg), Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg), Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg) and Birgul Soltanova (65 kg) will represent our country.
In the last days of the competition, freestyle wrestling will take place. Under the leadership of head coach Khetag Gazyumov, senior coach Jabrail Hasanov, coaches Taymuraz Kokoyev and Sharif Sharifov, Islam Bazarganov (57 kg), Nureddin Novruzov (61 kg), Rashid Babazade (65 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg), Turan Bayramov (74 kg), Jabrail Hajiyev (79 kg), Arseniy Dzioyev (86 kg), Ali Tsokoyev (92 kg), Osman Nurmagomedov (97 kg) and Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) will try to succeed.
At the European Championship, our I-S category referees - Asif Shiraliyev, Sadi Guliyev and Bashir Isazade will protect justice.
