Azerbaijani national wrestling teams have started the first training camps of 2026. This was reported by the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation.
After the Azerbaijani Championship held between January 7 and 11, the composition of the national teams was determined and the preparation stage began.
The Greco-Roman wrestling team started training camp on January 14, and the freestyle wrestling team on January 18 at the Goygol Olympic Sports Complex.
Greco-Roman wrestlers will continue the preparation process in Goygol until January 25, and freestyle wrestlers until January 31, with a focus on improving physical fitness. Tactical and technical exercises will also be included in the course of the training camp.
The national women's wrestling team came together today in Baku. The training camp organized at the wrestling federation's women's wrestling training base will end on February 3.
It should be noted that participation in international competitions is planned from next month. The women's wrestlers will start with the "Zagreb Open" (February 4-8), which is the first ranking tournament. Our men's teams will debut at the next ranking tournament - the Muhamet Malo Memorial in Tirana (February 25 - March 1).
