The world championship continues in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia.
"Report" reports that the first medalists in freestyle wrestling were determined on the second day of the competition.
Nureddin Novruzov (61 kg) won with a clear advantage in the consolation matches against Ecuadorian Joshua Kramer (10:0) and Ukrainian Kamil Karimov (12:2). In the match for the bronze medal, Nureddin did not give any chance to the North Korean representative Kum Kim. Overcoming his opponent with a "pin", our compatriot became the third in the world.
Arseniy Djioyev (86 kg) defeated Ukrainian Mukhammed Aliyev 7:2 in the consolation match, and French Rakhim Magamadov 7:0 in the fight for the bronze medal, and won the bronze medal.
In the last match of the day, Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) faced Iranian Amir Zarei. Our representative lost to his titled opponent with a score of 0:5 and finished the competition with a silver medal.
On the second day of the competition, finalists were also determined in 4 more weight categories in freestyle wrestling. Islam Bazarqanov (57 kg) defeated Georgian Roberti Dingashvili 10:1, but lost to Russian Musa Mekhtikhanov 0:3 in the 1/8 finals.
Turan Bayramov (74 kg) could not cope with the Russian Olympic and world champion Zaurbek Sidakov in the 1/16 finals – 1:5.
Jabrail Hajiyev (79 kg) advanced to the 1/8 finals in his debut because Sierra Leone wrestler Alfred Daniel did not appear on the mat. He then defeated Slovakian Aksarbek Gulayev 2:1. However, he lost to Greek European champion Georgios Kougioumtsidis 0:8 in the 1/4 finals. Since the opponent reached the final, Jabrail will compete in the consolation match tomorrow.
Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg) initially defeated Indian Deepak Punia with a minimal difference (4:3). In the 1/4 finals, in the match with Greek Olympic medalist and 3-time European champion Dauren Kurugliev, our wrestler was leading 2:0 when the opponent was injured and Osman advanced to the semifinals. Nurmagomedov lost to American Trend Hidley one step away from the final – 4:15. Our representative will wrestle for a bronze medal tomorrow.
