The U-23 World Championship held in Novi Sad, Serbia, is coming to an end. Sport24.az reports that 2 members of the national freestyle wrestling team competed in the decisive match today.
Kanan Heybatov (70 kg) faced Iranian Sina Khalil in the final. Although the opponent was superior in the first part, our compatriot won a tenacious victory. Kanan, who defeated his opponent with a score of 9:4, became the U-23 world champion for the first time.
Khetag Karsanov (125 kg) also faced an Iranian representative in the final. However, the national team member, who started performing in the heaviest weight this year, lost to Abolfazl Nejad (0:11) and won a silver medal.
