The 2nd stage of the World Beach Wrestling Series was held in Porec, Croatia, over the weekend.
"Report" reports that 2 wrestlers represented our country at the two-day competition under the leadership of head coach Oyan Nazariani.
Vusal Aliyev (80 kg), despite being a debutant, started the competition confidently. Our compatriot, who was in group B, defeated Ukrainian Oleksey Kharchuk and Serbian Milyan Rayic 3:0, and American Rodrick Law 4:0. Aliyev, who advanced to the semi-finals as the group leader, lost to Ukrainian Vasil Mikhailov – 0:2. In the match for the bronze medal, Vusal faced Law again and signed a 3:0 victory in just 13 seconds, rising to the third step of the honorary podium in his debut competition.
Ibrahim Yusubov (90 kg), who has been a 3-time world champion in this type, won against Frenchman Leon Mayrand and German Kevin Graham 3:0, and Iranian Said Largani 5:2 in group A. Yusubov, who came out as the leader of the group, did not give a chance to Ukrainian Nazar Doda in the semi-final – 3:0. Ibrahim faced another member of the Ukrainian national team, Oleksey Yakovchuk, in the final. In a tense fight, our experienced wrestler defeated his opponent with a score of 3:2 and climbed to the highest step of the honorary podium.
