Azerbaijani wrestlers Djioyev wins gold, Khaniyev silver, Abakarov bronze at the ranking tournament in Budapest

The wrestling ranking tournament continues in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

Idman.biz reports that the performances of freestyle wrestlers have been completed in the last ranking competition of the year.

3 athletes of our team won medals. Arseniy Djioyev won gold, Magomed-Bashir Khaniyev won silver, and Abubakr Abakarov won bronze.

Turan Bayramov lost to American David Carr with a score of 3:5 in the 1/8 final and said goodbye to the competition early.

Our other representative in this weight, Magomed-Bashir Khaniyev, advanced directly to the 1/4 finals because Kazakh Alibek Abdikassimov did not enter the mat. He defeated Kazakh Yeldos Kuanyshbay (13:2) and Bahraini Magomedrasul Asluyev (4:2) and qualified for the final. Khaniyev wrestled with Japanese Kota Takahashi in the final. Khaniyev, who lost with a score of 0:4, was satisfied with the silver medal.

Our representative defeated Slovak Boris Makoyev (3:0) and Turkish Osman Gocen (10:0) and advanced to the final. Arseniy faced Belarusian Magomedkhabib Kadimagomedov (UWW) in the decisive match. Our wrestler won the gold medal thanks to quality points.

Although Osman Nurmagomedov defeated Bahraini Magomed Sharipov with a score of 6:1, he lost to the last European champion, Greek Dauren Kurugliev, with a score of 1:5 in the 1/4 final.

Abubakr Abakarov, who competed in the same weight, lost to American Trent Hidley with a score of 2:7 in the qualifying stage. Since his opponent reached the final, Abakarov, who entered the consolation match, defeated Hungarian Kristiyan Angyal with a full advantage (11:0) and qualified for the bronze medal match. Abubakr will face Greek Dauren Kurugliev for the third place. Our athlete defeated the European champion and the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games and won the bronze medal.
