Azerbaijani beach wrestlers won 2 gold and 1 bronze medals at the European Championship among juniors (U-15, U-17) held in Poreč, Croatia.

At the continental championship, Azerbaijan was represented by the U-17 national team under the leadership of head coach Oyan Nazariani.
Rashid Nazarov (60 kg), who was in Group B, defeated Croatian wrestlers Nikola Durić and Lovro Vidović, as well as Ukrainian Ilia Klimchuk, with a score of 3:0. Nazarov, who advanced to the semi-finals as the group leader, lost to Georgian Rati Beridze in the fight for the final in the last seconds - 2:3. Rashid faced Klimchuk again in the match for the bronze medal. This time, Nazarov, who did not give his opponent a point (3:0), rose to the third step of the podium.
Ruslan Valiyev (70 kg) in Group A defeated Greek Yannis Apostol and Ukrainian Ivan Zalisko with a score of 3:0. Valiyev also scored a technical victory because Croatian Leon Kuzman did not wrestle. Ruslan qualified for the semi-finals as the group leader. Aykhan Guliyev, who competed in the same weight category, lost his first match in Group C to Georgian Luka Makharadze with a score of 1:3, but won a technical victory because Croatian Toma Jelenč did not wrestle, and then was stronger than Frenchman Thomas Rebourg - 3:1. Our representatives faced each other in the semi-finals. Ruslan won the fight with Aykhan - 4:1. Guliyev failed to cope with Bidzina Jintcharadze in the match for the bronze medal - 0:4. However, Valiyev defeated Luka Makharadze, another representative of Georgia, with a score of 3:0 in the decisive match and became the European champion.
Nihad Suleymanli (80 kg) defeated Briton Marshal Everett 3:0 in his debut and qualified for Group A. In the group stage, Nihad defeated Georgian Nuradin Mustafayev 3:1, Greek Panagiotis Kiparissopoulos and Hungarian Norbert Tapodini 3:0, and advanced to the semi-finals as the group leader. Suleymanli did not give Georgian Zebur Abashidze any chance in this stage either - 3:0. Nihad faced Mustafayev again in the final and did not allow the opponent to take revenge. Suleymanli, who was happy with the 4:1 victory, put on the gold medal.
Thus, our national team won 2 gold and 1 bronze medals at the European Championship. According to the fineness of the medals, Azerbaijan, which surpassed all countries, took 3rd place in the ranking according to points. Our team, which scored 65 points, lagged behind Georgia (85) and Ukraine (70).
