We became European champions for the 3rd time in the last 4 years.
According to "Report", Abulfat Mammadov, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team, which became the U15 European champion in Greco-Roman wrestling held in Italy, said this in a statement to journalists.
He noted that he is satisfied with the team's performance in the championship:
"Our young people performed well again. Competition is growing year by year. Thank God, we have surpassed all teams. It could have been better. But the results are good."
"Our team will remain in this squad next year. Huseyn Amrahov and Khudayar Karimov will remain in the national team next year as well. All our other wrestlers will change," A. Mammadov noted.
Let us remind you that the Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestling team, which won 1 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals, took first place with 131 points. Armenia (125 points) took second place, and Georgia (99 points) took third place. As part of the national team, Omar Salmanov (44 kg) defeated all his opponents and became the European champion. Huseyn Amrahli (38 kg) and Ruslan Nuriyev (75 kg) won silver medals. Khudayar Karimli (38 kg), Huseyn Mustafazade (52 kg) and Nadir Hasanov (62 kg) won bronze medals.
The team became European champion for the 3rd time. The Greco-Roman wrestling team achieved the same success in 2022 and 2024 as well.
