The Azerbaijani women's sabre fencing team took 13th place at the World Championship held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.
According to "Report", the team consisting of Leyla Ahmadova, Sabina Karimova, and Palina Kaspiarovich won the first duel against the Singapore team with a score of 45:33.
The team lost to the US team with a score of 26:45 in the match for the top eight.
In the matches for 9-16 places, the team, which lost to the Egyptian sabre fencers with a score of 37:45, won against the national teams of Hong Kong (45:39) and Ukraine (45:44).
In the individual competition of women sabre fencers, Palina Kaspiarovich and Sabina Karimova advanced through the group stage to the top 64, but lost in the matches for the top 32. Leyla Ahmadova stopped fighting in the group stage.
Our men's sabre team, consisting of Saleh Mammadov, Murad Akbarov, Magsud Huseynli, and Abbas Huseynov, lost to their French rivals with a score of 19:45.
In the individual competition of male sabre fencers, Magsud Huseynli, Murad Akbarov, and Saleh Mammadov lost in the play-offs. Abbas Huseynov could not pass the group stage.
In the individual competition of male épée fencers, Ruslan Hasanov successfully passed the group stage, but lost in the play-off match for the top 64.
