"Some of our wrestlers were participating in an international tournament for the first time".
This was stated to İdman.biz by Arif Abdullayev, the head coach of the Azerbaijan U-20 national freestyle wrestling team.
The experienced specialist evaluated the performance of our team at the "Nejad Hashemi Cup" held in Behshahr, Iran. He stated that one or two of our wrestlers were injured during the competition: "We participated in this tournament with 20 athletes. Athletes from 11 countries participated in the competition. We won 5 medals in the tournament and took 3rd place in the team standings with 100 points. Overall, it was a good experience for us. Of course, we could have performed even better, but nevertheless, the result achieved can be considered satisfactory".
It should be noted that Anar Jafarli (92 kg), Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) and Omar Gulmammadov (74 kg) won silver medals, while Sadreddin Hasanov (57 kg) and Nurlan Agazade (70 kg) won bronze medals in the Azerbaijan national team.
