Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler Ali Nazarov (60 kg) lost the victory in the final of the European Championship held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, due to certain mistakes.
The athlete said this in an interview with "Report".
"The competition went well. Everything was as I wanted until the final. I could have won in the decisive match as well. Because my Armenian opponent was weaker than me. I just made some mistakes myself. I hope I will eliminate the shortcomings in the world championship," the wrestler said.
Gurban Huseynli, who won a bronze medal at the European Championship, emphasized that he had an unsuccessful semi-final match:
"I performed poorly in the semi-final. I had strong opponents in the European Championship and I fought well against each of them. I hope I will win a gold medal in the world championship."
It should be noted that Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestlers finished the U-17 European Championship with 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
