Aleksandr Tarakanov, the head coach of Greco-Roman wrestling, assessed the national team's preparation for the Islamic Solidarity Games at the VI Islamic Games. Sport24.az reports that the experienced specialist made a statement to the press service of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation about this:
"The general physical training process was carried out. From November 1, we started two weeks of tactical and technical training. Since the national members participate in training processes throughout the year, there is no problem with the level of preparation. True, there is some fatigue as it is the end of the year. Therefore, we have already switched to light and short-term training so that the athletes do not get loaded."
The head coach added that the main rival of the competition will be the Iranian team:
"They will participate with the main team. We also consider wrestlers from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Turkey to be serious rivals. In my opinion, we expect a high level of competition in the Islamic Games."
Tarakanov also emphasized that they analyze the opponents: "We analyze all the opponents by watching the footage of their meetings and work on the mistakes. Of course, the opponents are also watching us and are specially tuned against us. Therefore, we must be as prepared as possible."
It should be noted that the wrestling competitions in the Islamic Games will be held from November 18 to 21. Bashir Isazadeh, a first-class judge, will also be one of those representing Azerbaijan in the Islamic Solidarity Games.
