Azerbaijani wrestling has faced a heavy loss.
İdman.biz reports that Javanshir Gurbanov, who made invaluable contributions to the development of wrestling in the country and served as the Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation from 1995 to 2017, has passed away today.
Javanshir Gurbanov, who made significant contributions to the popularization of Azerbaijani wrestling, especially in the regions, and to the training of athletes who achieved high results in the international arena, was also known as an all-Union and international-class judge.
For his long-term services to the country's sports, he was awarded the honorary titles of Honored Coach, Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports, as well as the 2nd degree "For Service to the Motherland" order and the honorary diploma of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
