The 2026 World Wrestling Championships will be held in Bahrain for the first time in history.
Idman.biz reports with reference to Sportnet.az that the mundial, which will be organized in the capital Manama, will take place on September 5-13.
Until now, no Arab country has hosted the World Wrestling Championships. In this regard, Bahrain will make history.
Faris Al Kuheji, Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and Nenad Lalovic, President of the United World Wrestling (UWW), made a historic statement and signed the relevant agreement.
Lalovic stated that they want to regularly change continents in terms of hosting the world championship.
Al Kuheji emphasized that this event will bring significant economic benefits to his country: "We will attract many fans from Iran, the USA and other countries."
It should be noted that Bahrain won its first historic Olympic championship at Paris-2024. Last year, Ahmed Tajudinov won a gold medal in the 97 kg weight category. In 2023, he also won the world champion title in the same weight. Tajudinov is also the Asian champion and winner of the Asian Games.
