Azerbaijani wrestlers have won 16 medals at the U-23 European Championship held in Zrenjanin, Serbia.
According to information from the "Report" correspondent dispatched to the competition, 3 of the medals are gold, 7 are silver, and 6 are bronze.
Freestyle wrestlers finished the competition with 8 medals, Greco-Roman wrestlers with 5, and women with 3 medals.
Ali Tsokayev (92 kg), Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg), and Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) became European champions. Gultakin Shirinova, Farid Sadikhli (both 55 kg), Vasif Baghirov (57 kg), Jeyhun Allahverdiyev (61 kg), Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg), Sabuhi Amiraslanov (79) and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) won silver medals. Ilkin Gurbanov (63 kg), Musa Agayev (65 kg), Farid Khalilov (67), Ramik Heybatov (70 kg), Farahim Mustafayev (72 kg) and Zafar Aliyev (97 kg) won bronze medals.
It should be noted that the European Championship was held between March 9-15.
