"Azerbaijani volleyball players are gaining experience in European arenas."
Idman.biz reports that this was stated by Farid Jalalov, the head coach of the Azerbaijani men's national volleyball team, in his statement to "Report".
He commented on the team's defeat to Belgium in the European Championship qualifying round yesterday: "Actually, if we lost with a score of 0:3, it is difficult to talk about a positive moment. But I am sure that our volleyball players are gaining serious experience in European arenas. Our players did their best. 5 volleyball players of the opponent play in the Italian championship. If we compare the volleyball players, we will see that they are very strong."
The specialist reminded that the national team consists of young players: "I have repeatedly stated that our team consists of young players. Our volleyball players are currently in the stage of gaining experience. There are big differences between the composition of the national team 3 years ago and now. Except for Kenan Allahverdiyev and Elmin Alishanov, all players are new. We give a chance to players who are appearing on the field for the first or second time. We want to attract young people who play in the domestic championship to the national team and train them for the future."
Jalalov believes that the national team will be successful in international competitions in the future: "I think that our team should be given a trial period of 3-4 years to test their strength in such competitions. I believe that we will become a strong team in the coming years. One of our problems is height. Most of the volleyball players playing in Europe are taller than our players."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team will host Austria on August 16. The team previously lost to Belgium at home and Austria away with a score of 0:3.
