World Aquatics has announced the lifting of all sanctions imposed on Russia and Belarus in water sports.
Idman.Biz reports this with reference to foreign media.
According to the decision, athletes from these countries will again be able to compete in international tournaments with their flags and anthems, covering disciplines such as swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, and water polo.
The President of the organization, Husain Al-Musallam, emphasized the importance of open water spaces remaining a platform where athletes from all countries come together peacefully.
However, according to the rules, World Aquatics will check whether athletes support the war against Ukraine. Athletes who make statements in support of the war in the media and social networks, participate in propaganda events, or are seen in military uniform or with the military will not be allowed to participate in competitions.
