On March 18-19, 2026, Azerbaijan will host the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) European Regional Symposium. Sport24.az reports that the event, which will be held in Baku, will replace WADA's annual traditional symposium and will be part of regional events to be held on four continents.
The Baku Symposium will bring together anti-doping agencies, government representatives, international sports organizations, athletes and their representatives from the European region. The main purpose of the event is to discuss regional challenges related to the implementation of the new World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards, which will enter into force in 2027. The event will focus on updates on changes to the World Anti-Doping Code and Standards, the obligations of national anti-doping organizations and the joint cooperation of stakeholders. Presentations based on real experiences, interactive sessions, and exchange of views with the participation of athletes and government representatives will also be held. In addition, discussions are planned on awareness-raising, capacity building and strengthening partnerships.
The symposium will be an important platform for the region's countries in terms of knowledge and experience sharing. The event, which will be held within the framework of the World Anti-Doping Code implementation support program, will make a significant contribution to the future development of anti-doping activities in the European region.
Detailed information on the event program and registration will be announced in the coming months.
