The European Judo Championship continues in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro.
GOL.az reports that five more Azerbaijani judokas joined the competition today.
Zelim Tckaev (81 kg) wrestled with Aurelien Bonferroni (Switzerland) in the 1/16 final. Our judoka, who won, then won duels with Dorin Gotonoaga (Moldova) and Antonio Esposito (Italy). He failed to cope with Tato Grigalashvili (Georgia) in the semi-finals. Tckaev will face Petru Pelivan (Moldova) for the bronze medal.
Omar Rajabli (81 kg) defeated Eetu Ihanamaki (Finland) in the 1/16 final.
Murad Fatiyev (90 kg) met Aleksandr Sidorik (IJF) in the 1/16 final and won confidently. The national team member clarified his relationship with Islam Sogenov (Serbia) in the 1/8 final. Fatiyev, who defeated his opponent, also surpassed Luka Maisuradze (Georgia) in the next match. He could not continue his successful series in the semi-final match with Kristian Parlati (Italy). The defeated judoka will compete with Alexis Mathieu (France) for the bronze medal.
In the women's competition, Gunel Hasanli (70 kg) lost to Anna Oleynik-Kornienko (Ukraine) in the 1/32 final, and Sudaba Agayeva (70 kg) lost to Adelina Novitskaya (Israel).
