Today, a regular meeting of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation was held.
Idman.biz reports that Zaur Akhundov, the president of the federation, who opened the meeting with an introductory speech, said that topical issues on the agenda would be discussed.
Andy Schleck, a Luxembourgish cyclist, winner of the 2010 "Tour de France" and many other prestigious races, who participated in the meeting as a guest, was introduced to the participants. Sahib Alakbarov, the 1st vice-president of the federation, provided information about the work done after the new leadership was elected to the organization. According to him, meetings were held with coaches and athletes, their opinions and suggestions were listened to, and a document reflecting the main directions of the federation's activities for 2025-2028 was prepared.
Sahib Alakbarov also stated that negotiations were held with the International Cycling Union (UCI) and a preliminary agreement was reached on the restoration of the "Tour d"Azerbaidjan" cycling race, which has gained great prestige in the international arena. An application has been sent to the International Cycling Union to include the 5-stage race in the calendar plan in 2026.
At the meeting, the main directions of activity, logo, staff schedule and new uniform of the national team of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation for 2025-2028 were approved.
