Sudanese world champion Abubaker Kaki died in an artillery attack.
"Report" reports with reference to "Sudafax" that the 35-year-old athlete died as a result of the shelling of his house in El Fasher.
The athlete died instantly when a mortar shell hit his house, and several of his family members were injured.
It should be noted that the Sudanese sprinter has twice (2008, 2010) been the winner of the World Indoor Championships. In 2008, at the age of 18, he became the youngest winner of the tournament. He won a silver medal in the 800m race at the 2011 World Championships. The athlete was the flag bearer of the Sudanese team at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
