"SportAccord" has announced that the "SportAccord" Convention, scheduled to take place from May 24-28 this year at the Baku Congress Center and the Heydar Aliyev Center, has been postponed to a later date in order to ensure the best experience for both the host and participants.
Idman.Biz reports that the official statement states that "SportAccord" remains committed to hosting an edition of the convention in Baku, recently named "World Capital of Sports", and that an announcement regarding the re-determined dates will be made in due course.
"SportAccord" President Uğur Erdener expressed his gratitude to his partners in Azerbaijan and the city of Baku for their flexibility and continued commitment to hosting the "SportAccord" Convention.
"We have no doubt that they will host an exceptional edition of this special event at the right time," the statement said.
Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov also made a statement on this matter:
"Azerbaijan has proven itself to be a safe and reliable partner for sports partners. We have no doubt that the "SportAccord" convention in Baku will demonstrate this opportunity and provide an ideal environment for discussions that will shape the future of sports. We look forward to welcoming world sports leaders on the road to the next Olympic and Paralympic Games."
"SportAccord" is also finalizing its plans on an exciting program of initiatives, including the "IF Forum" to be held later this year, and will be presenting additional innovations in the coming weeks.
