Ski mountaineering World Cup is held in "Shahdag".
According to the North Bureau of "Report", the competition was held with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, organized by the International Ski Mountaineering Federation, the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation and "Shahdag" Tourism Center.
The sports event is attended by Rustam Najafov, Chairman of the "Shahdag" Tourism Center, Gunel Badalova, Secretary General of the Winter Sports Federation, Azer Aliyev, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee, Jordi Canals, Secretary General of the International Ski Mountaineering Federation,
Florian Zengstschmid, Vice President of the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation, and Farid Gaibov, Minister of Youth and Sports.
About 130 people from 26 countries - Azerbaijan, Turkey, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Austria, Andorra, Spain, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Iran, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Qatar, Slovakia, USA, Great Britain, Greece, Slovenia and Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN) - are participating in the competition.
Athletes will compete in sprint on January 10, vertical on January 11, and individual events on January 13.
Azerbaijan is represented by Nazrin Garibova and Seyid Sadreddinov in the competition.
It should be noted that the World Cup is considered one of the qualifying competitions to win a license for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
