This was stated by the Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation (AAF) Maharram Sultanzade in his statement to "Report" while talking about the new appointments in the organization.
He said that detailed discussions were held on many important issues:
"As you know, the president of the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation, Javid Gurbanov, held a meeting with coaches. I would like to note that such meetings are organized regularly. This time, detailed discussions were held on many important issues and appropriate instructions were given. Also, new coaches were appointed. Oktay Mirzayev will temporarily serve as the head coach of the national team. Michal Pogany has been appointed as the coach-consultant for jumps. Mirzayev, a well-known expert in athletics, has worked in the Turkish and Russian national teams. He also participated in the "1st Conference of Coaches on Athletics" organized by us last October and shared his rich experience with our coaches. Slovak Michal Pogany is also a well-known and experienced expert. The athletes he coached have been winners and prize-winners of the Olympic Games, world and European championships. We believe that these appointments will be fully in line with the federation's intensive activities in the direction of athletics development and these experts will contribute to achieving the goals we have set".
It should be noted that new appointments were made in the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation yesterday. Oktay Mirzayev was appointed the temporary head coach of the Azerbaijani national team, and Michal Pogany was appointed the coach-consultant for jumps.
