Another athlete from Russia has received an Azerbaijani passport.
Idman.biz reports with reference to Sputnik Azerbaijan that skier Zahir Jafarov, originally from Azerbaijan, will represent our country.
Zahir, born in Nizhny Novgorod, will be part of the Azerbaijani national team for winter sports from next season. The 26-year-old athlete competed for the Russian national team in the Nordic combined, which includes ski jumping and cross-country skiing.
Jafarov has repeatedly won prizes at Russian championships and represented the country in international competitions.
It should be noted that Russian figure skater Veronika Zhilina also recently accepted Azerbaijani citizenship. However, the Russian Figure Skating Federation has not yet confirmed the athlete's performance under the Azerbaijani flag.
