The Azerbaijan Mountain Bike Championship has started.
Idman.Biz reports that on the first day of the competition, which is jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation, participants tested their strength in the "Cross Country" type in the Mountain Bike Park located in the Khocasan settlement.
Among the athletes competing in the U15 age category at a distance of 5.4 km (1.8 km x 3 laps), Toghrul Mammadli rose to the highest step of the podium. Huseyn Zeynalzade took 2nd place and Murad Jabbarli took 3rd place.
Athletes competing in the U17 age category covered a distance of 8.4 km (2.8 km x 3 laps). According to the results of the competition, Ali Zeynalzade, Emil Vakhrameev and Aydin Mammadov took the first 3 places, respectively.
The competition of athletes competing in the Youth, U23 and Elite categories at a distance of 8.4 km (2.8 km x 3 laps) ended with the victory of Maksim Polikarpov. Artyom Proskuryakov won a silver medal and Mirmovsum Jabrayilov won a bronze medal. All the distinguished athletes are representatives of the Republican Olympic Cycling School.
The winners were awarded medals, diplomas and cash prizes.
On the 2nd day of the national championship, participants will determine the strongest in the "Enduro" type in the park near the TV Tower.
