Sergey Semak, the head coach of the Russian club "Zenit", and his wife Anna Semak were detained by the police at Munich Airport in Germany.
Idman.Biz reports that, according to the rules in force in Europe since 2022, citizens are not allowed to take goods worth more than 300 euros (approximately 555 AZN) per item to Russia. The Semak family was detained and investigated because shopping items exceeding this limit were found on them.
Anna Semak made a statement on her personal Telegram channel regarding the incident. According to her, the situation was initially presented as a "minor problem" and they were told that they would catch the flight. Later, they faced police, interrogation, signing documents, and the word "crime".
Anna Semak stated that they were detained for a certain period of time and forced to pay a large fine for a pair of shoes, glasses, and a scarf. In addition, all items purchased in the European Union were confiscated and handed over to their acquaintances living in Germany. As a result, the couple missed their flight and lost their tickets. They had to pay a considerable amount of money to catch the next flight.
Anna Semak noted that after the plane took off, they felt they had "said goodbye to Germany and Munich once and for all".
