President Ilham Aliyev at the "Vatan" Sports Lyceum

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev got acquainted with the conditions created after the reconstruction works carried out at the "Vatan" Sports Lyceum named after Tarlan Heybatov in Baku. Sport24.az reports with reference to the President's website that the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev informed the head of state about the conditions created in the lyceum. It was reported that the "Vatan" Sports Lyceum was established in 2022 on the basis of secondary school No. 126. Reconstruction works carried out at the Lyceum with 600 student places, named after Tarlan Heybatov, a martyr of the First Karabakh War, at the expense of state capital investment, were completed in December 2024. The lyceum's completely renovated educational building has 22 classrooms. Classrooms are equipped with necessary teaching materials for students to receive high-quality education. This building houses chemistry, physics, biology laboratories, computer science and pre-conscription military training rooms, a library, a 240-seat assembly hall, administrative and auxiliary rooms. The lyceum has internet, furniture and other necessary equipment at the level of modern requirements. In the sports building of the educational institution, a universal hall (basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, fencing, etc.) and a wrestling hall have been completely renovated. In addition, a gym, judo hall, physiotherapy room, rehabilitation sports hall, steam and auxiliary rooms have been reconstructed. Within the framework of the project, a 100-bed dormitory building has also been completely renovated. The dining room here is designed for 220 people. The kitchen, laundry and other auxiliary rooms in the building are also equipped with the most modern equipment. It should be noted that teaching in the updated educational institution is conducted for grades V-XI. About 60 teachers are engaged in the education of students. It is also planned to provide dormitories for students from the regions who are engaged in professional sports. The lyceum will also ensure that these athletes receive food in accordance with their daily food norms. Extensive landscaping work has been carried out in the courtyard of the educational institution. In the modern world, the future of every country is measured by the level of education. Azerbaijan is also among these countries. The measures taken in our country in recent years regarding the development of education give reason to say that Azerbaijan wants to see its future more reliable and confident. In addition, Azerbaijan, which is in the focus of the world's attention with its rich natural resources, has set the main goal of further developing human capital through the efficient use of these resources. The work done and the conditions created at the "Vatan" Sports Lyceum confirm once again that education reforms are successfully continuing thanks to the attention of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The planned measures related to the construction, major repairs and reconstruction of new schools in the capital and regions are being implemented according to plan. All this, first of all, opens up comprehensive opportunities for students to receive education at the highest level and to master the secrets of science more deeply. The conditions created in the lyceum also show that there is the highest level of state care for the development of education and sports in Azerbaijan. Because one of the priorities of the state's policy is to further develop human capital. In this regard, investments in education and sports are of great importance.
