Our Judokas Win 4th Medal at European Championship

The European Judo Championship continues in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro.

GOL.az reports that five more judokas from Azerbaijan joined the competition today.

Zelim Tckayev (81 kg) wrestled with Aurelien Bonferroni (Switzerland) in the 1/16 finals. Our judoka, who won, then won duels with Dorin Gotonoaga (Moldova) and Antonio Esposito (Italy). He failed to beat Tato Grigalashvili (Georgia) in the semi-finals. Tckayev faced Petru Pelivan (Moldova) for the bronze medal.

Our athlete defeated his opponent and won the bronze medal. This is the third success for our country in this championship.

Omar Rajabli (81 kg)  defeated Eetu Ihanamaki (Finland) in the 1/16 finals.

Murad Fatiyev (90 kg) met Alexander Sidorik (IJF) in the 1/16 finals and won a confident victory. The national team member clarified his relationship with Islam Sogenov (Serbia) in the 1/8 finals. Fatiyev, who defeated his opponent, also defeated Luka Maysuradze (Georgia) in the next match. He was unable to continue his successful streak in the semi-final match with Kristian Parlati (Italy).

Our defeated judoka competed with Alexis Mathieu (France) for the bronze medal. Fatiyev also defeated his opponent and became our next bronze medalist. Thus, our country has increased the number of medals in the tournament to four.

In the women's competition, Gunel Hasanli (70 kg) lost to Anna Oleynik-Korniyenko (Ukraine) in the 1/32 finals, and Sudaba Aghayeva (70 kg) lost to Adelina Novitski (Israel).
