The African Polo Championship, held at the Guards Polo Club in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, concluded on November 8th.
Idman.Biz reports that the winners of the tournament, Nigeria and Niger, have directly qualified for the 2026 World Championship to be held in Baku.
The tournament took place from November 5th to 8th and was marked by exciting matches between four teams from the African continent: Nigeria, Niger, Ghana, and Egypt.
On the final day of the games, Ghana defeated Egypt 6-1 to take third place. In the final match, Nigeria defeated Niger 5-3 to become the champion of the African Polo Championship.
The final ranking is as follows:
1st place - Nigeria
2nd place - Niger
3rd place - Ghana
4th place - Egypt
The tournament provided spectators with the opportunity to watch the ancient polo game in a modern sports format. This victory is also considered an important step for the development of polo in Africa and its recognition at the international level.
