The NHL minimum salary will increase to $1 million in the 2029/30 season.
Idman.biz reports that this is reflected in the updated collective agreement that will be in effect for 2026-2030.
Next season, the minimum salary will remain at the previous level and will be $775,000.
Further increases are planned – $850,000 in the 2026/27 season, $900,000 in 2027/28, $950,000 in 2028/29, and $1 million in the 2029/30 season.
It is noted that if players play in those seasons with contracts concluded at the previous minimum salary, their salary will be increased to the minimum amount in effect in that season.
In addition, the maximum annual salary for rookie players (excluding achievement bonuses) will also increase. The current maximum amount is $975,000. In 2026, this amount will increase to $1 million, and from 2027 a formula will be applied – NHL minimum salary + $175,000. Thus, in the 2029/30 season, the maximum salary will be $1.175 million.
