A new handball championship will be established in Azerbaijan.
This was reported to "Report" by Isgandar Asgarov, Head of the Sports Department of the Azerbaijan Handball Federation, representative of the European Handball Federation.
The expert also stated that there will be changes to the regulations:
"A new handball championship will be held starting this year. This competition will be called the First League. Currently, 9 men's and 6 women's teams compete in the Azerbaijan Higher League. Others, including regional teams, will compete in the First League. The Higher League games will be held every week throughout the season. We plan to organize the First League twice a year, on a round-robin basis. The team that takes first place here will face the last team of the Higher League. The team that wins this duel will compete in the Higher League next season, and the loser will compete in the First League."
