"After the Paris Olympics, my medal also deteriorated."
Lent.az reports that these words were said by Hasrat Jafarov, the bronze medalist of Paris-2024 in Greco-Roman wrestling, in his statement to apasport.az.
Jafarov stated that the medal lost its quality only 3 days after the tournament:
"When I returned home, the people who greeted me said that my medal was of poor quality. Everyone was asking me why the medal was in this condition? Although I had received my medal 3 days ago. My medal deteriorated in just 3 days. Now the situation is getting worse day by day. The color of the medal is fading, and it is also rusting."
He, like many athletes, is considering returning his medal:
"If I knew they would replace it with a new and high-quality medal, I would also return my medal."
It should be noted that more than 100 athletes around the world have sent the medals they won at the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games to the Organizing Committee of the tournament because the medals were of poor quality.
