On November 1, a regular meeting of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation was held.
İdman.Biz reports that the president of the organization, Zaur Akhundov, introduced Vladimir Bushansky, a Kazakh invited to the position of sports director of the federation, to the members of the Executive Committee.
Zaur Akhundov emphasized that the necessary support will be provided to the specialist for his successful work in our country.
The 1st vice-president of the Federation, Sahib Alakbarov, informed the meeting participants about the work done and numerous events held during the period after the last meeting of the Executive Committee. He stated that within the framework of cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Education, as well as the Ministry of Youth and Sports, cycling sections were opened in 2 cities and 8 regions of the country, and this process will continue in the future.
Sahib Alakbarov, emphasizing that the "Baku-Khankendi Azerbaijan Cycling Race" has been included in the calendar plan of the International Cycling Union (UCI) for 2026, said that this 2.1 category race will be held on May 10-14 next year and will consist of 5 stages. Members of the Executive Committee were introduced to the planned routes of the race, and they were given detailed information about the work that needs to be done.
Federation President Zaur Akhundov nominated Sahib Alakbarov for the position of head of the Organizing Committee of the competition. The proposal was unanimously accepted.
Fikret Huseynov, Executive Vice-President of AzVIF, brought to the attention of the meeting participants information about the reconstruction and repair work carried out at the Republican Velodrome.
At the meeting, the federation's new official website was also presented, and information was provided about its design, functionality and structure. Then other issues were discussed and relevant decisions were made.
