The "Laureus World Sports Awards" has announced the nominees for 2026.
Idman.Biz reports that PSG (football), Oklahoma City Thunder (basketball), and McLaren (Formula 1) are among the nominees for the "Team of the Year" award.
The award ceremony will be held at the "Cibeles" Palace in Madrid. The winners will be selected by the jury of the "Laureus World Sports Academy".
Nominees for the "Team of the Year" category:
"Paris Saint-Germain" (football). The Parisians, who defeated "Inter" 5:0 in the Champions League final, won six trophies in 2025, including three titles in France, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Intercontinental Cup.
"Oklahoma City Thunder" (basketball). They won their first NBA title in club history and tied the Chicago Bulls' record for most wins in a season (84) in the 1996-97 season.
"McLaren" (motorsport). They defended their Constructors' Championship title with six rounds to go.
Indian women's cricket team. The first nominated women's cricket team after winning the World Cup.
England women's national football team. They retained their European Championship title by defeating Spain on penalties.
European golf team (Ryder Cup). They won their 16th title, ending a 13-year winless streak on the road.
