A new statue has been erected in the stadium in honor of Johan Cruyff, the former player and head coach of Amsterdam's "Ajax" club.
According to GOL.az, the monument was unveiled on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Dutch football legend.
The bronze statue is located on the balcony above the royal box. The Cruyff figure is depicted looking at the stadium field, pointing at it with his hand.
"This bronze statue is a symbol that will constantly remind us of Cruyff's vision, his dedication to his work, and his unparalleled contribution to the world of football – both as a player and as a coach," the club said in a statement.
Cruyff passed away on March 24, 2016, from lung cancer. Since the 2018/19 season, Ajax's stadium has been named after him (Johan Cruyff Arena).
