July 2nd is International Sports Journalists Day.
İdman.biz reports that this day has been celebrated every year since 1995 at the initiative of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS).
The decision to establish a professional organization - the International Sports Press Association - was made at the congress of international sports press representatives held in Paris on July 2, 1924. AIPS mediates between the international press and athletes and sponsors, and organizes meetings and seminars for new sports journalists.
Currently, 130 countries around the world are represented in AIPS. Azerbaijan, one of the active members of AIPS, hosted the 77th Congress dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the organization in 2014.
