The Azerbaijan Triathlon Federation (ATF) held a presentation regarding the international "Ironman 70.3 Baku" competition, which will be held for the first time in the country's sports history.
Idman.biz reports that the meeting held at the Four Seasons Hotel was also attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov.
In addition to the Minister, the press conference was attended by Farid Farhadzade, President of the Azerbaijan Triathlon Federation, Thomas Veje Olsen, Vice President and CEO of the Ironman Group for EMEA, Alberto Garriga, EMEA representative, Henrik Brovell, EMEA Regional Director, and Nurlan Abduov, exclusive Ironman licensee for the CIS.
It was reported that the competition will be held on September 5–6, 2026 and will include the "Ironman 70.3", "Fun Run 5 km" and "Ironkids" races.
The 1.9 kilometer single-lap swimming stage will take place on the coast of the Caspian Sea.
The 90 kilometer cycling stage will consist of 2 laps. The 3-lap running half marathon will cover 21.1 kilometers.
On September 4–6, 2026, an entertainment program and an "Ironman EXPO" zone will be organized for residents and guests. Visitors will be able to purchase official "Ironman" products and other sports equipment.
