The opening ceremony of the international handball tournament dedicated to the memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev took place in Baku.
According to Idman.biz, the Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Handball Federation, Orkhan Abbasov, spoke about the importance of the traditional tournament and stated that it is a moral duty to commemorate the memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
Abbasov said that the National Leader's policy is still being successfully continued today, and emphasized that the worthy representation of Azerbaijani sports in the world arena is the result of the attention and care shown by President Ilham Aliyev.
After the national anthem was played, a video about the life and work of the National Leader was shown. The event ended with an artistic segment.
It should be noted that the tournament, which started today, will end on September 3. "Astana" from Kazakhstan and OKMK teams from Uzbekistan are competing in the competition. Our country is represented by "Kur", "Karabakh" and "Baku" teams.
